Voyager 2 spacecraft image of the surface of Jupiter, extending from the equator (top) to the southern polar latitudes in the region of the Great Red Spot, a massive storm system which has been observed for over 200 years. The area south west of the Red Spot displays 2 small scale structure & cloud vortices. The picture was taken on July 3, 1979, from a range of 6 million kilometres.
