Published July 15, 1922 Few may realize that Vogue featured articles on period costumes, with illustrations by artist Claire Avery, who provided, from 1921 to 1934, a beautiful array of looks?from Ancient Egyptian to Edwardian. A pinnacle of masculinity in dress was this extremely wide-shouldered ensemble, fashionable during the reign of King Henry VIII of England. The drawing, which appeared in the July 15, 1922, Vogue, is interestingly missing the codpiece and sword that was essential to the look. Photo licensed from the Cond?
