Published July 15, 1922 An imaginative rendition of a Queen and her Knave, here illustrated by Claire Avery, is flanked by their corresponding playing cards, plus the side and back silhouette of the Queen's costume. She wears a gable hood with lappets and a pomegranate-patterned gown, looped to show the luxurious ermine-fur lining. The confident Knave wears a close-fitted floral-pattern cotehardi, parti-colored hose with both legs striped, and a wide hat. The drawing appeared in the July 15, 1922, Vogue.
