  • “Three Worlds” by M.C. Escher (1898 – 1972) is his enigmatic double-image of sky, earth and water. Escher, endowed with an artistic soul and a mathematical mind, created impossible structures, spatial illusions and repeating geometric patterns. Escher had no mathematical training, but instinctively discovered advanced math principles and created his own system underlying the patterns in his work.
