This premium giclee print, an upgrade from the standard giclee print, is produced on thick (310 gsm), textured watercolor paper made from alpha cellulous wood pulp that is acid free. It shares the same vivid colors, accuracy, and exceptional resolution that make giclee prints the standard for museums and galleries around the world. Giclee (French for "to spray") is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto a highquality paper. The smooth transitions of color gradients make giclee prints appear much more realistic than other prints.
As poetic as its title, “The Shortening Winter’s Day” by Joseph Farquharson is one of his many remarkable winter scenes featuring a flurry of sheep. Originally from Scotland, Farquharson (1846 – 1935) was often inspired by the woods and land bordering his home. This work’s exceptional realism attests to his patriotism and attention to detail. When it was shown at the Royal Academy, it was praised for “the ingenuity of painting, and for the power to convey the illusion of sunlight on snow, darkened by the shadows and the leafless trees behind which the winter sun is setting." The landscape was called "a tour de force."
