The downcast headgear at Clipstone Colliery Nottinghamshire The original shafts of Clipstone Colliery in Mansfield were sunk in to give access to the top hard seam In the s the shafts were deepened to their current m depth to provide access to other seams After its closure by British Coal in the colliery was reopened under the control of RJB Mining in April until it again ceased operations in after producing a further four million tonnes of coal
