Original caption: "Open Plumbing" 1,900 years old excellent photo of the magnificent aqueduct at Segovia, Spain, built by the first Roman emperor, Augustus...Photo shows a view of the city entrance here, with the old Roman Aqueduct built during the reign of Emperor Augustus (27 B.C. to 14 A.D.). The water was conducted on it from a basin on the mountains east of Segovia over the deep valley to the upper part of the city. It is 2,683 feet long and its greatest height is 92 feet when it crosses the entrance to the city. The structure is the largest fullypreserved monument of Roman colonization in Spain.
