Gorman’s “Navajo Chilis.” Raised in a traditional Navajo hogan in Arizona, Gorman (1932 – 2005) was a talented artist who worked in various mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics and lithography. The artist attained international fame with poetic images of Native American women that are timeless and universal. Gorman wrote and illustrated four cookbooks and often depicted food in his works.
