Sometimes cars needed a little help in delivering mail to rural Americans in the early 20th century. This 1921 Ford ModelT was useful for delivering mail in Oswego County, New York during most of the year, but was no match for the areas winter snows. Owner and Rural Free Delivery carrier Harold Crabtree purchased a Snowbird kit to keep his vehicle running in winter. The attachment, manufactured by F.S. Manufacturing Company of New Holstein, Wisconsin, was advertised it as the mailmans special.
