Muirfield, in Gullane, Scotland, is thought to be the oldest golf club in the world and is one of the most difficult for a visitor to gain access. The course was designed by Old Tom Morris and opened for play in 1891. Here is a photo of the seventh hole with the clubhouse in the background, taken by Stephen Szurlej, Senior Staff Photographer, Golf Digest. The course has hosted numerous championships and was ranked No. 5 on Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Courses Outside the U.S. in 2007-08.Photo licensed from the Condé Nast Collection, home of The New Yorker, Vogue, Vanity Fair and other popular brands.
