Published August 11, 2006The Medinah Country Club, in Medinah, Ill., was founded by a group of Shriners from Chicago who commissioned Tom Bendelow as their course designer. The first course opened in 1925, with two others opening before the end of the decade. Medinah went on to host regional and national championships over the years, including the U.S. Open and PGA Championship. Seen here, the second hole of the third course involves a complicated shot over water, with bunkers protecting the fairways and greens on either side.
