MAGIC telescope and star trails There are two MAGIC Major Atmospheric Gammaray Imaging Cherenkov telescopes both located on La Palma the Canary Islands They are used to detect highenergy gamma rays by detecting the particles produced as the gamma rays impact the Earths atmosphere Gammaray sources studied include black holes active galactic nuclei Xray binaries and gamma ray bursts The main telescope dish is metres across The two MAGIC telescopes began operating in and Star trails are formed by the apparent motion of the stars in the sky as the Earth rotates on its axis
