Lahinch Golf Club, in County Clare, Ireland was founded in 1892 after a group of Scotish Black Watch officers found the land. The course was designed by Nature as much as it was by Alexander Shaw, the course founder, and Old Tom Morris and Dr. Alister MacKenzie, who were each brought in at later times to make adjustments. The classic links course includes blind shots, wind and high dunes to challenge the golfer. This Stephen Szurlej photo shows a fairway between dunes with a beautiful shoreline view behind it. The course is considered to be among the best in the world, and was ranked No. 23 on Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Golf Courses Outside the USA 2007-08 list.Photo licensed from the Condé Nast Collection, home of The New Yorker, Vogue, Vanity Fair and other popular brands.
