IRF3 is a member of the interferon regulatory transcription factor family. It binds to DNA to activate the transcription of interferons alpha and beta, as well as other interferoninduced genes. Interferons are proteins produced by white blood cells as part of the immune response to invading pathogens, especially viruses.
