Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos). This bird is resident in North America, southern and far northern Europe and large parts of Asia. It mostly inhabits upland areas. An adult golden eagle can have a wingspan in excess of 2 metres and weight 5 kilograms. The golden eagle is a predatory bird which feeds on birds and small mammals and occasionally larger mammals such as foxes or young deer.
