Andy Warhol (1923 – 1987) loved cats, creating numerous paintings of them until he began his Pop Art series of soup cans, Coke bottles and Marilyn Monroe silkscreens. As a cat owner, he published a book of 25 cat portraits in which all but one of the felines were named Sam.
