Created in 1983 as part of a children’s art exhibit, “Four Monkeys” was painted by Andy Warhol (1923 – 1987) as a series of miniature paintings of monkeys and other animals based upon his own vintage wind-up toys. The edgy glamour and eccentricity in the work of Pop Art innovator Andy Warhol, was popular among children as a result of the vibrant colors and repetitive images.
