Map of the Moon, 1810. This plate depicts the geographical features of the moon using observations by Cassini and Riccioli. These are applied to the system created by Giovanni Riccioli (15981671), which has features named after famous scientists and people. Below the main picture there are diagrams showing, to scale, the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.
