Diagram of the path of the Voyager 2 spacecraft. Launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 20 August 1977, the spacecraft flew past Jupiter in July 1979, Saturn in August 1981, & Uranus in January 1986. It is due to encounter Neptune in August 1989. At each flypast, it has recorded & transmitted back to Earth a large quantity of pictures & other scientific data which have revolutionised our ideas of the outer planets & their moons.
