Liver cancers may be primary (originating in the liver) or, more commonly, secondary (having spread from elsewhere). Symptoms of the cancer include weight loss, lack of appetite and pain in the upper right abdomen. Primary cancer may be treated by excision or a total liver transplant. There is no cure for the secondary cancer, although anticancer drugs may slow its progress. Angiograms are produced by injecting an artery (here the hepatic artery at lower right) with a radioopaque substance, and taking an Xray.
