The main way of getting supplies to the slew of villages along the Everest Base Camp trail is Sherpas carrying them on their backs all the way up to as high as 17,000 ft. Everyday along the trail there are dozens of Sherpas hauling gear slowly but surely up the mountain. Some of the Sherpas carry as much as 150 lbs worth of supplies alone gas, water, snacks, etc wearing sometimes nothing more than a pair of sandals. This particular Sherpa is carrying meat which we were discouraged from eating since there is effectively no refrigeration as they bring it up.
