Original caption: This is one of the best action pictures ever taken of an anti-shipping strike. It shows Beaufighters of R.A.F. Coastal Command attacking German "M" Class minesweepers north-west of Borkum on 8/25/1944. The minesweepers were part of a convoy of approximately eight vessels and were left smoking heavily. Taken from a Beaufighter (looking backwards), the picture shows no less than 12 "striker" aircraft, half going in and half coming out of the attack. One the left are two enemy balloons. The enemy minesweeper on the left is smoking heavily after being hit; that on the right is surrounded by rocket trails. Smoke trails in the middle of the picture are also from rockets.
