Beginning in the early 1920s, New York bookseller Isadore Warshaw started assembling what is now the Warshaw Collection of Business Americana held in the Archive Center at the National Museum of American History. Warshaw became concerned about the business community's lack of interest in its past and, sensing an opportunity for himself, began collecting materials many companies were discarding. He acquired business papers, advertisements, and other printed paper materials, often called ephemera, wherever he could. By the late 1960s his collection contained more than a million pieces, which he used to research copyright and trademark issues, create trade shows, and provide images to researchers for study and illustration.
