16th century oil painting of Jane Seymour, Queen of England, and third wife of the ruling monarch, King Henry VIII. She had succeeded Anne Boleyn following the latter's execution, but remained queen for a very short time from 1536 to 1537, having succumbed to postnatal complication during the birth of her only child.
