Dominican monk Fra Angelico (1400 – 1455) expressively conveyed human emotions and a deep spirituality in his exceptional works. Born Giovanni da Fiesole in Italy, Angelico prayed before painting and only created religious works. The artistic leader of Florence throughout his career, Angelico conceived many early Renaissance trends, including receding perspective, Realism and underlying narrative.
