Product Information
Controversy culminated in success for “September Morn,” the best-known work of French painter Paul Chabas. The painting combines the body of a local peasant girl with the profile of an American girl Chabas (1869 – 1937) saw in a Paris café. The work went unnoticed until an American art dealer displayed it in his window, and paid schoolchildren to leer at it. This infuriated the Society for the Suppression of Vice, and made the painting a sensation. “September Morn” is now on display at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. This high-quality art print is expertly produced to capture the vivid color and exceptional detail of the original.
