New York’s Central Park bridges are the heart of its softer side. Secluded by groves of trees below street level, the picturesque Gapstow bridge spans the pond at the park’s northeast end. The original bridge was designed in 1874 by the famous Jacob Mould, and then replaced in 1896 by the current stone version. In the spring, the bridge becomes almost entirely obscured by flowers and foliage.
