Predominantly labeled a Pop artist and the foremost British artist of the 20th century, David Hockney's wide ranging works are impossible to categorize under one movement. Elements of Matisse and Picasso mix with his own strong design sense and lively acrylic color palette. After completing his studies at the Royal College of Art in London, Hockney moved his studio to Los Angeles’ in 1964 and embraced the free-wheeling West Coast lifestyle. The move was pivotal to the development of his signature style. This original exhibition print was created by David Hockney for an exhibition of his pool series in Paris in 1978. Number 91 in the Hockney poster book.
