Gestures, posture and facial expressions masterfully express complex emotions in Eugene Burnand’s “The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre on the Morning of the Resurrection.” A Swiss painter, Burnand (1850 – 1921) portrayed John, Jesus’ favorite disciple, and Peter, the Church head, rushing to witness Jesus rising from his tomb on Easter morning. Originally a student of art in Geneva, Burnand moved to Paris, where he mainly painted landscapes. This nuanced artwork was Burnand’s most famous piece. Highly influenced by Realism, it is displayed in Paris’ Musée d’Orsay. The Giclee printing process delivers a fine stream of ink resulting in vivid, pure color and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display. This art print is produced on a heavy 310 gsm, acid-free and watercolor textured paper.
