Product Information
Like a predator chasing scorching prey, a fire engine hurtles through city streets in “The Figure Five in Gold” by Charles Demuth. One of the first artists inspired by technology and machines, Demuth (1883 – 1935) based this artwork on the poem, “The Great Figure,” by his friend William Carlos Williams. The poem describes Williams' impression of a fire truck thundering past. The artwork, which contains the first names and initials of Demuth and Williams, forms a stylized portrait of the pair. Part of a series of eight abstracts, the painting is on display in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. This high-quality art print is expertly produced to capture the vivid color and exceptional detail of the original.
