No ordinary baseball field, the legendary “House that Ruth Built” is shown in all of its mythological glory in “Yankee Stadium”. The world-famous icon was also dubbed “The Stadium, “The Big Ballpark in the Bronx,” and “The Cathedral of Baseball.” It housed the mighty New York Yankees for more than 80 years, and was the first ballpark to be called a stadium because of its imposing size. Scheduled to be torn down in 2008 and replaced by a new stadium in 2009, the previous location will be memorialized by a park filled with 12,000 trees planted in the shape of the adored stadium.
