A U.S. soldier of the 9th Infantry Division uses an M79 grenade launcher to guide helicopters into an operation on the northern edge of South Vietnam's Mekong Delta in mid-July 1968. Helicopters were the preferred mode of transport as troops searched for Viet Cong in the swampy region.
