Colossal pioneer of the Op Art movement, Victor Vasarely (1908 – 1997) is universally acknowledged as one of the 20th century’s artistic geniuses. Influenced by Constructivism, Cubism and Surrealism, Vasarely innovated an artistic expression which transformed nature into geometric shapes and vibrating, adjacent colors. Replete with the optical illusion of movement, Vasarely’s works were inspired by numerous scientific fields. His art was widely reproduced in the 1960s, and is still featured worldwide in the contemporary collections of almost every major art museum.
