British author Virginia Woolf, born Adeline Virginia Stephen in 1882, was a significant literary figure of the 20th century. Her works include Mrs. Dalloway and To the Lighthouse. Photographers Maurice Beck and Helen MacGregor captured an enigmatic Woolf for Vanity Fair, but the image was never published.
