Actors Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt were practically inseparable after their marriage in 1922. The Theater Guild signed the successful pair, with an agreement that neither would be forced to tour without the other. They appeared in dozens of show together, including The Guardsman and the original stage production of The Brothers Karamazov. Charles Sheeler's photograph of the smiling couple appeared in the July 1928 Vanity Fair.
