Product Information
In his epic "Migration Series," Jacob Lawrence stirringly told the tale of African-Americans’ mass exodus from the rural South to the urban North in search of a better life. “The Migration Series, No. 58,” depicts children enjoying the education that they were denied in the South. The son of migrants, Lawrence (1917 – 2000) extensively researched the event before painting his vivid, 60-panel tale of migrants’ struggles and triumphs. The 1941 exhibition of the series was so overwhelmingly successful that two major museums bought all of the paintings and Lawrence became one of the first African-Americans to break into the segregated art world. This high-quality art print is expertly produced to capture the vivid color and exceptional detail of the original.
