Product Information
In “The Horse Fair,” French artist Rosa Bonheur captures the horse’s power, grace and majesty. To create the final work, which was an enormous 16 ft. by 8 ft., Bonheur (1822 – 1899) sketched Paris’s horse market twice a week. She attended the market for 2½ years, dressed as a man to avoid detection. Bonheur paid little attention to the humans in the painting, which was typical of her art. The highlight of her career, this piece was acclaimed by Queen Victoria and is now displayed in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. This high-quality art print is expertly produced to capture the vivid color and exceptional detail of the original.
