Illustrator, sculptor and author, Steve Hickman is best known for his illustrations of Science Fiction and Fantasy novels with over 350 covers to date. In 1994 he was awarded a Hugo Award from the World Science Fiction Convention for the United States Postal Service’s Space Fantasy Commemorative Booklet of stamps, the first official recognition by the government of the science fiction genre. At a young age, Steve began developing a vocabulary of personal and distinct imagery. Steve taps into this visual poetry by way of his own vision quest and provides physical access to the imaginary realm of magic. Working primarily in oils and creating subtle moods in a range of emotions, Steve's work has been likened to great artists such as Vermeer and Rembrandt.
