Spiral galaxy M81, composite image. M81 is around 12 million light years from Earth, in the constellation of Ursa Major. It has a supermassive black hole at its centre. This image was obtained by the Chandra Xray Observatory (blue), Hubble Space Telescope (visible light, green), the Spitzer Space Telescope (infrared, pink), and the Galaxy Evolution Explorer Orbiter(GALEX, ultraviolet, purple).
