A surfer is dwarfed by the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge while riding the waves in the San Francisco Bay at Fort Point, Feb. 28, 2000. The government arrested three surfers Tuesday, April 9, 2002, accusing them of assaulting another surfer at the secluded federal park underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. The three, who were jailed in leiu of $50,000 bail, made a brief appearance in federal court, where they each were charged with a crime carrying a maximum 10-year prison sentence. They are expected to enter a plea next week.
