Colour woodblock print of Iris Kaku-Jaku-Ro from the catalogue of the Yokohama nursery of Seitaro Arai which specialised in Iris kaempferi. The Yokohama nurseries supplied catalogues of plants for sale overseas. There is evidence to suggest that towards the end of the 19th century they began to trade collectively as one company.
This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions. The high-quality paper (235 gsm) is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface.
