Louisiana native photographer William Guion grew up enthralled by mystical, majestic oaks. He uses soft light and overcast conditions to emphasize the character, detail and textures of these elegant elder trees and the tranquility of the Southern and Western landscapes. Guion has been a landscape photographer for 20 years and is strongly influenced by the West Coast’s large format black and white era. He’s published his first book, Heartwood, Meditations on Southern Oaks.
