Raja montereyensis (Gilbert, 1915). This species of skate or ray was named after the place it was first collected: Monterey Bay, California. The specimen was collected in 1904 at a depth of about 50 meters (164 feet). Size of specimen: 19.5 centimeters (7.7 inches)
