Neo-Classical artist John William Waterhouse was renowned for lifelike, lavish works that were hauntingly sensual. Born in Italy and raised in England, Waterhouse (1849 – 1917) was a leading painter of historical, mythological, and literary subjects. His work had strong romantic Pre-Raphaelite influences, with a strong Victorian narrative. Waterhouse was a member of the Royal Academy, and often painted powerful or doomed women. Achieving success during his lifetime, Waterhouse created more than 200 artworks.

This is a beautiful example of Waterhouse's work. The colors are tremendous! The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because it lacks the artist name and the title of the piece on the bottom. All my other Waterhouse prints have this information, and I rather like it. Spend the extra $$$$ and get this version!

We had the white border on this poster trimmed off and the remaining area framed without glass. The result is an amazing painting that really makes our front room pop. The printing and the type of material used make this look like a real painting. Find a good local framer and don't use glass!
