One of Chicago’s finest graphic artists during the 1920s, Arthur A. Johnson was commissioned by the Chicago Transit Authority to design posters for a campaign to encourage Chicagoans to use their the L-train for destinations other than work. Many talented graphic artists worked on the series, producing 160 posters between 1921 and 1929.
