Shive during battle stations is in charge of the port gun in number one turret of Big Mo. His duty includes seeing that the gun in properly loaded following which he closes the breech and tells gunner that the gun is ready to fire. The sailor's other duties, when not manning the 16-inchers, include standing watch and being first loader on the 40mm gun.
