Called the cartoonist with a camera, British photographer David McEnery (1940 – 2002) got laughs with his endearing feline photos. Originally a photojournalist for a local newspaper, he became a freelancer when a national newspaper bought one of his funny photos. Soon after, his work was regularly published in newspapers and magazines around the world. McEnery, whose humorous work is still relevant today, manually enhanced his shots with simple studio props.
