A small child leads a large and powerful horse in “Kindred Spirits,” Jenness Cortez’s poignant depiction of unconditional trust. Cortez, a Contemporary Realist, Cortez painted racehorses before moving to landscapes and figurative works, which she utilized to acknowledge nature as a manifestation of the divine. “Kindred Spirits” is Cortez’s tribute to Bonnie, a beloved horse from her childhood.
Realist artist Jenness Cortez gained worldwide recognition during the 80s art boom with her paintings of racehorses, painted from live viewings. Her landscapes, still lifes and figurative art caught the attention of well-known collectors including Presidents Reagan and Clinton and Queen Elizabeth II as well as many collections in the corporate, private and public realms. Her experience as an editorial illustrator and draftsman adds gorgeous detail which she conveys with warm sentiment or even a touch of humor. Cortez has created the annual commemorative print honoring thoroughbred racing’s Horse of the Year since 1981.
This art print displays sharp, vivid images with a high degree of color accuracy. A member of the versatile family of art prints, this high-quality reproduction represents the best of both worlds: quality and affordability. Art prints are created on paper similar to that of a postcard or greeting card using an offset lithography press.
