    A regal palm tree and other exotic foliage decorate the gleaming “Interior of a Palm House” by Karl Blechen, which depicts the hothouse of Prussian King Frederick-William III. Blechen (1798 – 1840) was a master of German Realism, and often painted outdoors to portray his subjects as literally as possible. Appointed stage painter of the Berlin Royal Theater, he was able to indulge his remarkable, mysterious style. Using dazzling colors and unconventional themes, Blechen became one of the 19th century‘s foremost artists.
    German Realism master Karl Blechen (1798 – 1840) often painted outdoors to portray his subjects as literally as possible. Pursuing art after several years as a banker, Blechen was appointed stage painter at Berlin’s Royal Theater, where he could showcase his remarkable, mysterious style. Influenced by travels through Italy, his works became more relaxed and flowing. Later, he was hired as the Berlin Academy’s Professor of Landscape Painting. Blechen was renowned for his dazzling colors and unusual themes, which made him one of the 19th century’s most influential artists.
    This art print displays sharp, vivid images with a high degree of color accuracy.
