Joseph Farquharson’s exceptional artworks were his music and their titles were his lyrics. Often naming his works after lines from famous poems, Farquharson (1846 – 1935) was renowned for expertly lit winter scenes populated by sheep. Farquharson received art supplies at age 12, and exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy just one year later. From Finzean, Scotland, he based many of his exceptionally detailed, realistic snowscapes on his rural surroundings. Farquharson exhibited nearly 400 paintings at numerous respected galleries and artistic societies in his lifetime.
